Unique Peek+Shop Jewellery @ Aubeebop+NicoleFerguson Pop Up

Ive recently discovered NEOS North East Open Studio = 10 day festival in Aberdeen and shire where you can visit artist’s and maker’s studios to gain an insight into their practice with the opportunity to purchase some of their work!

Today I visited Aubeebop Jewellery by Aubin Stewart and Nicole Ferguson Jewellery at 13 Hopetoun Grange Aberdeen.  Was little nerve wracking visiting the makers studio as I didn’t know what to expect but Aubin and Nicole couldn’t have been more lovely and welcoming! We chatted about both their journeys into jewellery making, and sourcing of materials for some of their pieces, including sea glass that makes up some of Nicole’s beautiful necklaces.

Nicole’s sea glass necklaces displayed beautifully in the studio

Aubin and Nicole’s great display of equipment and techniques used in jewellery making

If your looking for a unique shopping experience, with a chance to meet the makers and understand   a bit more about the process in a super cute studio with a cup of tea would definitely recommend popping along.

Find out more information here at Aubin and Nicoles Facebook event page https://www.facebook.com/events/465168176977213/  and their individual sites http://www.aubeebopjewellery.com and http://www.nicolefergusonjewellery.co.uk.

There are lots more studios open to visit over the next week too! All the information is over at http://www.northeastopenstudios.co.uk

The festival runs till Monday 21st September, be great to know of your finds if you manage to make it along to any of the studios!xxxx

Disclosure – All the views are my own and wrote my post after enjoying and wanting to share my visit.  I was not endorsed in any way for writing this post.

SpectrΔ 2015

This weekend Ive been helping out at Spectra Aberdeen, a fantastic light festival in the centre of Aberdeen in Union Terrace Gardens http://spectraaberdeen.com/. The festival was curated by Andy Brydon of curated place and brought together artists from across Europe.

The exhibition included work from 360 degree Immersion projection photographed in Iceland, AMAZE with light projected all around the maze, illumainated finger knitted blankets, Piano migrations trio with work filmed in Montrose Aberdeenshire, and one of my favourites work by a local artist Callum Kellie.

Here are some of my photos from the event, they only cover a small proportion of the festival, if you wanted to see more there is good coverage of the work on the spectra website http://spectraaberdeen.com/ and images on the Facebook page https://www.facebook.com/spectraaberdeen.IMG_20150215_110656

Festival Venue —-> Union Terrace Gardens Aberdeen with Amaze by Marcus Zotes in construction

Spotted some Snowdrops hiding on the edge of the gardens and managed to sneak a peek just before the festival began

Ambiguous Borders by Elisa Artesero

Finger Knitting by Steinunn Sigurðardóttir

Piano Migrations Trio by Kathy Hinde – Pink Footed Geese were filmed during their migration in Montrose Aberdeenshire and the images projected onto deconstructed pianos.  Kathy constructed equipment to co-ordinate the geese’s movement to trigger the piano strings producing a unique sound with great effect!

Immersion by Andrew Brooks, sound by Jack White

Apparition by Ulf Mark Pedersen

Oversea by Callum Kellie

Was great to see so many people of all ages coming down to the festival and enjoy the works.  Hope curated place can run the festival next year as was a great event.

♥Adventures = Exploring Aberdeen

Been having a great time exploring Aberdeen since moving back in August.  I was a bit nervous moving from a larger city back to a smaller one as loved living in Manchester with its great choice of restaurants, cafes and art spaces.

Aberdeen you have impressed me! Since living here 4 years ago theres lots of change and developments in the restaurant, cafe and art scene and excited to share some of my discoveries with you.

Here is Bertie and I full of mixed emotions after loading up the Van and hitting the road for Aberdeen for the last long drive in a while!

We made it! Love the stunning granite builds that pop up everywhere within the city centre.  If you have any great photos of Aberdeen would be lovely to see them # Aberdeen
