♥Adventures = Cake College!

Last year I decided to go part time with work to develop other career interests, one of these was baking+cake making. I enrolled on ABC Level 1 Cake decoration after doing  a 6 week taster course at @Boltoncollege.  Excited was an understatement !  With no formal education in cake I was looking forward to meeting other cake enthusiasts  and learning some new skills.

Our tutor was lovely and very helpful to help with any tricky parts and to lend specialist tools.  The classroom @boltoncollege was lovely, lots of space and was right next to the signature restaurant where the catering students serves lunches and dinners to the public at very good prices.  Mmmmm for us that guessing what was on the menu each week from the flavours travelling across thee corridor in the air to our class.

Looking forward to our exhibition day where all the students work will be on display!  Here are some pictures from the year.

In addition we made a large marzipan Teddy Cake.  We also did some small biscuits iced with flooding icing and Candles made with mini battenburg and marzipan.  We created a design folder which had sketches of our cakes and information about ingredients, costings and techniques.

I loved going to cake class and can’t wait to see how I can use my skills at home to create in the future!  Unfortunately I’m unable to commit for the next level of the course but hoping to pick up some more classes when I can.

If your thinking of doing a qualification would love to hear from you and how you get on!

  1. Going part time with work to learn new things is such a good idea. I’ve always thought that 5 days a week is too much work! The cakes look awesome. I think your happy vegetables are my favourite, they’re so cute! xx
